4 things to remember when your plans fall to pieces

posted in: A360 | 0

You had it all mapped out. Your plan was perfect.

The future you’ve always dreamed of was right within reach.

Then everything fell apart.

Maybe it was your fault. Maybe it wasn’t.

But, does that even really matter right now? You still feel broken and you don’t know how to move forward.

It’s important to feel it out and acknowledge that things are tough, but moping and sulking for days on end doesn’t move the needle forward.

There’s good news here: these are the moments that really make you into the person you want to be.

These are the moments where greatness is made and you learn how strong you really are.

Here are 4 things to remember when everything falls apart:

1) You don’t know what light is if there is no darkness.

You can’t appreciate the good moments in life without going through tough times.

You know that feeling when we have our first sunny and 50° day of spring after a cold winter?

That’s how you’ll feel on the other side of this time period.

2) Learning what you don’t want in life is just as important as learning what you do want in life.

My most transformative moments in life have come from my intricate plans falling to pieces.

I’ve learned so much over the past 2.5 years about what I want my business to look like by trying out different things and realizing how miserable I am in those situations.

It might not always feel like it, but you’re learning some huge lessons about who you are and what you’re capable of right now.

3) You’re not alone.

You have people you can rely on, so rely on them.

4) This won’t last forever.

You’ll get past this. It might take awhile, but you’ll get there.

So, take a deep breath and focus on controlling the controllables. Then get out there and attack this problem like you do everything else in life.

Best,

Zach
